The Civic was built in 1899 as an exhibition hall before becoming the council offices in 1920. Much care has been taken in restoring this historical building to its former glory, with Greek figurines adorning the walls and restored mahogany woodwork. Boasting an impressive stage, marble dance floor and a capacity for 1000 people, the Civic meets all your needs.
Unlike many venues you are free to choose caterers of your preference, and a large commercial kitchen is available for their use.
We can provide for your entire bar needs, with a range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Staff can also be provided who will be willing to adhere to your wishes. The central city location also allows for much freedom. Noise control is not a problem, and in many situations nor is transport.
The Civic is ideal not only for school balls, but for formal dinners, conferences, awards and exhibitions. For smaller occasions we also have available the stylish VIP room which can comfortably hold up to 150 people. Feel free to contact us to discuss ideas and be shown around the venue.
